SHLB Congressional Fly-In 2026

The SHLB Coalition is organizing a fly-in of SHLB members to support E-rate, the Rural Health Care program and the Universal Service Fund in March, 2026.

The purpose of the fly-in is to educate Congress about the importance of preserving E-rate and the RHC program so that schools, libraries and healthcare providers can make affordable broadband service available to their communities.

Pre-Event Trainings

  • February 26: Prep call with a Congressional staffer - what to expect in a Hill visit (optional)
  • March 3: Prep call with SHLB staff - review logistics, talking points, meeting schedules, etc.

Tuesday, March 10

  • All day: SHLB Members arrive in DC
  • 4:30pm: Reception at Mayflower Hotel with State Broadband Leaders Network (SBLN) (1127 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036) 

Wednesday, March 11

  • 8:30-9:30am: Breakfast, Training & Hill Speakers
  • 10am-1pm: House meetings
  • 1-2pm: Lunch in Senate Dirksen Cafeteria
  • 2-5pm: Senate meetings
  • 5-7pm: Happy Hour at Union Pub (201 Massachusetts Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002 )

Thursday, March 12

  • SHLB members fly home
We’re excited to welcome you to Washington, DC! Attendees are welcome to stay wherever is most convenient. Here are two options near Capitol Hill:

SHLB has not designated an official event hotel, as all events will take place offsite at locations noted in the agenda above.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions—we’re happy to help.
The registration fee covers the cost of the following:
  • Pre-event trainings
  • Reception on March 10
  • Breakfast Training on March 11
  • Happy Hour on March 11
Attendees will cover their own costs for:
  • Travel
  • Hotel
  • Local travel (cabs)
  • Lunch on March 11
