Bi-Weekly Member Call
Every other Monday 2pm ET Join the Group
This bi-weekly call provides updates on federal and state broadband policy and regulatory developments across the broadband landscape. It’s the best way to stay informed about all of SHLB’s broadband policy work and advocacy efforts in support of anchor institutions, and how such policies impact your organization.
January Meeting Summary
We had a stellar lineup of speakers for this month’s member policy calls. First, we were joined by Kathryn De Wit, Project Director of Broadband Access for The Pew Charitable Trusts. Kathryn spoke to the group about various updates related to the BEAD program, including status of approvals, non-deployment funds, and the potential impact of the AI Executive Order.
Then, we heard from Andy Schwartzman, Senior Counsel at the Benton Institute who provided insight around the current 5th Circuit litigation from Consumers’ Research regarding the constitutionality of the USF.
Finally, we were joined by Jon Bernstein, Chair of EdLiNC Coalition, who gave an in-depth review of the renewed efforts regarding children’s use of screen time in school, including previous efforts to tie the issue to E-Rate funding through the Eyes on the Board Act.
