Description

It’s been a year since SHLB won a landmark victory in SHLB v. Consumers’ Research, where the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the Universal Service Fund (USF). But ongoing legal threats remain: Consumers Research is back at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, challenging specific parts of the USF that were not technically decided in the Supreme Court case, which includes threats to the E-Rate and Rural Health Care programs.

SHLB is fighting back by once again intervening in the case. Now that briefs have been filed, what can we expect from the 5th Circuit? Legal experts Jason Neal, SHLB's attorney with the HWG law firm, and Andrew Schwartzman, counsel for several other public interest groups, will join us to break down the current USF challenges and answer your questions about what is at stake.

Speakers:

Andrew Schwartzman, Senior Counselor, Benton Institute for Broadband & Society

Jason E. Neal, Partner, HWG Law
