Professional Bio
Dr. Sanyal is a telecommunications industry expert, specializing in spectrum policy, auctions, broadband, competition, regulation, consumer protection, and intellectual property matters. She advises clients on FCC regulatory issues in fixed and mobile broadband, spectrum auctions, spectrum value, and spectrum availability.
Prior to joining Brattle, she was the Chief Economist of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. While at the FCC, Dr. Sanyal led the wireless agenda on economic analysis and policy and worked extensively on the Wireless Competition Report; several high-profile telecom mergers; Universal Service Fund (USF)-related issues, such as the Mobility Fund; and the Fixed and Mobile Measuring Broadband America agenda. Prior to her FCC stint, Dr. Sanyal was an Assistant Professor at Brandeis University, where she held a joint position at economics department and the International Business School.
