Ophelia Watahomigie-Corliss

Ophelia Watahomigie-Corliss is a member of the Havasupai Tribe whose advocacy has taken her from the floor of the Grand Canyon to the halls of Congress. A former Havasupai Tribal Councilwoman and current Director of the Havasupai Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program, she has successfully advanced Tribal priorities in broadband access, spectrum policy, environmental protection, and cultural preservation. Her work includes testifying before Congress on Tribal broadband opportunities, advocating before the FCC for permanent Tribal access to EBS spectrum and Tribal spectrum opportunities, helping bring broadband connectivity to one of the nation's most remote communities, protecting Havasupai ancestral lands, and supporting the successful renaming of Havasupai Gardens in Grand Canyon National Park, restoring recognition of an important Havasupai cultural and historic place.
