Dr. Mekka Smith

Mekka Smith, Ed.L.D. brings over fifteen years of experience as an education practitioner with a passion for developing leaders and organizations. As the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Community at Digital Promise, she seeks connections with mission-aligned organizations to advance powerful learning and digital equity across the country. As a former senior policy advisor in the Office of the Deputy Secretary, her portfolio covered educational technology, STEM, internal policy development, and PK-12 external engagements. Previous roles include chief of staff, director of district partnerships, and teacher coach for public school teachers in Massachusetts. Mekka started her career as an elementary teacher in Florida. She is a graduate of Amherst College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
