Professional Bio

Dr. Dawit Haile serves as Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and Interim Provost for Academic Affairs at Virginia State University (VSU). With more than 30 years of experience in academia and industry, he previously held faculty positions at Xavier University and Southern Illinois University. At VSU, he established new programs and expanded research in machine learning, data mining, and cybersecurity, securing over $30 million in grants. His expertise spans combinatorics, graph theory, and neural networks, with numerous publications and conference leadership. Dr. Haile also serves as Vice Chair of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Interim President of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Logistics Systems. He is appointed to the Commonwealth’s Manufacturing Development Commission, focusing on policy and strategic planning to enhance Virginia’s manufacturing sector.
