Professional Bio
Brett Himsworth is Managing Director of E-Rate Central, a consulting firm founded in 1997 to help schools, school districts, libraries, education service agencies, Tribal communities, and state education departments, navigate the E-Rate program. He has been involved with E-Rate, and worked to simply the application and funding process, at the local, state, and national levels since the program’s inception.
E-Rate Central works with approximately 800 applicants ranging in size from the largest consortia and public school districts, to very small, rural, and private schools and libraries, across the nation. It has clients in 37 states, holds State E-Rate Coordinator positions in five states, and works with two statewide library systems. Through the company's various engagements, Brett has experience with the Rural HealthCare and BEAD programs, in addition to the E-Rate program, relative to statewide infrastructure buildouts. Brett is a State E-Rate Coordinator for New York and a member of the State E-Rate Coordinators Alliance (“SECA”), belongs to the E-Rate Management Professionals Association (“EMPA”) where E-Rate Central is a founding member, and belongs to CoSN. Finally, Brett and E-Rate Central have filed comments in almost every E-Rate related rule proceeding initiated by the FCC since the beginning of the E-Rate program.
Brett has been active in SHLB, has long attended the annual AnchorNets conferences, and participated in last year’s Congressional Fly-In. He also has experience with higher education as he serves as a trustee for Landmark College where he Chairs the Institutional Advancement Committee.

Statement of Interest for the Board of Directors
I would like to serve on the SHLB Board because its work is so closely connected to the schools and libraries I have worked to support throughout my career. My long history with E-Rate and direct experience serving on governing boards have given me a practical understanding of board governance, institutional oversight, and the importance of weighing different perspectives before making decisions. Effective board service requires more than subject-matter knowledge, it requires preparation, sound judgment, collaboration, and a willingness to listen. I believe that the combination of my experience, backed with E-Rate Central’s resources, would allow me to make a meaningful contribution to SHLB and “anchor institutions to obtain and promote open, secure, high-quality broadband services to support connectivity and opportunity for all.”
