SHLB Supports Bipartisan ACP Amendment
This amendment will help keep students and library patrons online.
Washington, D.C. (May 8, 2024)—Today, the Schools, Health, Libraries, and Broadband (SHLB) Coalition, a leading advocate for open, affordable broadband access for community anchor institutions, stands firmly behind the bipartisan FAA Reauthorization Amendment to fund the ACP.
The amendment, led by Senators Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), JD Vance (R-OH), Steve Daines (R-MT), Peter Welch (D-VT), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), and Roger Wicker (R-MS), aims to bolster the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and address critical connectivity gaps.
“The SHLB Coalition strongly supports the Luján/Vance amendment to preserve funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The Senate should move quickly so this extremely popular program can continue. Broadband access is essential for education, healthcare, and economic opportunity. The ACP plays a crucial role in bridging the digital divide and ensuring that all Americans have a fair shot at success,” said John Windhausen, Executive Director at SHLB.
