August 31-September 1, 2016 2016-08-31 20:00:00 2016-09-01 00:00:00 15 Big Sky Broadband Workshop in Missoula, Montana Big Sky Broadband Workshop in Missoula, Montana For Regional Broadband Stakeholders Please join the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), U.S. Department of Commerce for a Regional Broadband Summit featuring keynote addresses by national broadband leaders.  WHO:  The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (U.S. Department of Commerce), broadband leaders and state and local officials. SUMMARY:  Broadband is a critical driver of economic growth and prosperity across the country. The “Big Sky Broadband Workshop” will bring together state, local and federal officials, industry representatives, community leaders and other key stakeholders to share real-world broadband success stories and lessons learned from across the region. The summit will also examine the gaps that remain and strategize on what still needs to be done to expand access to and adoption of high-speed Internet services for the benefit of all citizens. Our meeting will begin at noon on Wednesday, August 31, with a luncheon sponsored by the Montana Telecommunications Association and keynote address.  The summit will feature high-impact discussions on broadband focused on everything from how to bring advanced telecommunications infrastructure to rural communities, to how to ensure that all Americans have the broadband access and critical skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy. WHEN:  August 31- September 1, 2016 HOTEL INFORMATION:  Special room rates for the Hilton Garden Inn will be available soon.  Please use room block code “BroadbandUSA”.  Reservations can be made online or by calling (844) 563-2975.                                                                                                                                                     DETAILS:  Workshop attendees are also invited to participate in Technical Assistance “office hours,” a Tribal Broadband Meeting and a Community Connectivity Initiative Workshop.  The Technical Assistance office hours will give workshop attendees an opportunity to meet with local, state and federal officials, industry representatives and other experts who can answer questions and serve as a resource for communities seeking to expand broadband access and adoption.  The Tribal Broadband Meeting will provide tribal partners the opportunity to discuss issues and challenges unique to native communities.  The Community Connectivity Workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about and contribute ideas for a new online interactive assessment tool that will help communities benchmark themselves on broadband access, adoption, policy and use. NTIA is partnering with a number of leading civic organizations to develop the tool, which will be part of a broader program of support and resources for broadband planning.  All events will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, 3720 N.
