Access to competitive high-speed IP telecommunication networks and the Internet is becoming essential for America’s anchor institutions, businesses and individual citizens. According to the FCC’s National Broadband Plan, anchor institutions need affordable access to broadband of at least 1 gigabit per second in every community in the country. Schools and libraries are natural allies in expanding access to broadband in urban and rural America. Anchor institutions stand ready to further leverage broadband infrastructure to empower and engage communities to support education, entrepreneurship, health and wellness, and more. For rural health care, broadband access can literally be a matter of life and death. Broadband offers the opportunity for health care providers to expand their reach into rural America, transmit information between providers, connect healthcare professionals with opportunities for continuing education, and ensure patients have access to quality local health care.  Content and Education to Include: Funding Policy & Programs: Creating the Right Incentives for Adoption by All Information, and practical guidelines to access funding, from Federal, State and Local government  sources Networking : Drive Fiber Deeper into the Network and Leveraging Next Gen Wireless Technology  Community Engagement: Practices, Programs, People and more Applications & Services: The development of applications that make progress in health care, education, public safety, and energy, and more.
