SHLB Coalition Welcomes Kathryn O'Connor (Kitty) to the Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. (July 5, 2023) - Today, the Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathryn O'Connor (Kitty) to its Board of Directors for a term from June 1, 2023, to December 31, 2025.

Kitty's qualifications were thoroughly reviewed by the SHLB Governance Committee, and she has extensive expertise in telecommunications, government relations, and healthcare and education regulatory compliance. Kitty has consistently shown a strong commitment to advancing SHLB’s mission and values.

One notable aspect that Kitty brings to the Board is her bipartisan approach. Hailing from Tennessee, as a former staffer to United States Senator Lamar Alexander, Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, and executive for international companies, her perspective will enhance the diversity of thought and geographic representation within the SHLB Board.

"We are thrilled to have Kitty O'Connor join our Board of Directors," said John Windhausen Jr., Executive Director of the SHLB Coalition. "Her wealth of experience and expertise in telecommunications and government relations will greatly benefit our coalition's efforts in advocating for equitable broadband access and bridging the digital divide one anchor institution at a time.”

"ENA by Zayo, is a small but vital part of enabling connections, learning, and productivity," expressed Kitty O'Connor, SHLB Board Member and Head of Healthcare, Erate Legal & Compliance at Zayo. "I am excited to join SHLB's Board and be a part of its efforts to bridge the digital divide one anchor institution at a time as we empower students and teachers, nationwide. By ensuring their access to digital resources, we are equipping students and teachers with the tools to keep America competitive and our economy thriving in the future."

"Kitty O'Connor has arrived on the SHLB Board, and we couldn't be happier,” said Cindy Altick Aden, Board Chairwoman of the SHLB Coalition. “Her dedication to our mission and extensive telecom and regulatory compliance knowledge will be game-changers. Together, we'll help SHLB bridge the digital divide one anchor institution at a time.”
