Building Community Wireless Networks for Last-Mile Connectivity

Thursday, October 8, 2026
03:20 - 04:20 PM
Room: TBD

Communities across the country are finding innovative ways to extend internet access beyond traditional broadband models by leveraging libraries, community-owned wireless networks, and culturally responsive deployment strategies. This panel explores how investments in public Wi-Fi and fixed wireless infrastructure are connecting residents where they live, learn, and gather—from libraries and parks to underserved urban and rural neighborhoods. Panelists will share lessons on using anchor institutions, community mapping, open-source tools, and local partnerships to expand digital opportunity, strengthen digital skills, and build sustainable, community-centered connectivity solutions.
