Understanding the Economics of a New Era in Broadband

Thursday, October 8, 2026
03:20 - 04:20 PM
Room: TBD

This session will discuss how a broadening set of technologies — including fiber, cable broadband, DOCSIS 4.0, low-earth-orbit satellite (LEO), fixed wireless access (FWA), Wi-Fi, private wireless networks, and shared/licensed spectrum solutions — are shaping the competitive landscape of the broadband sector. It will also explore the heterogeneous economic impacts on local communities as these technologies compete and coexist. For example: how will BEAD spending trickle down to local economies depending on whether it's directed toward fiber, cable, FWA, LEO, or other access technologies? And should these differences in technology and deployment be factored into how government designs its regulatory regimes?
