Washington, D.C. (June 15, 2021) - Today U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Angus King (I-Maine), and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) introduced the Broadband Reform and Investment to Drive Growth in the Economy (BRIDGE) Act.

John Windhausen Jr., executive director of the Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition made the following statement:

"The bipartisan BRIDGE Act addresses the nation's urgent need for affordable, high-quality broadband for anchor institutions and unserved and underserved markets. The bill's call for gigabit broadband for anchor institutions is particularly important, as schools, libraries, telehealth providers, and other community support organizations can play an instrumental role in solving the digital divide and extending broadband access to all. The SHLB Coalition is pleased to support this important bill, and we applaud Senators Bennet, King, and Portman for collaborating to ensure that affordable broadband is available to all."
